“Then said Gangleri: “I would ask tidings of more Æsir.” Hárr replied: “The second son of Odin is Baldr, and good things are to be said of him. He is best, and all praise him; he is so fair of feature, and so bright, that light shines from him. A certain herb is so white that it is likened to Baldr’s brow; of all grasses it is whitest, and by it thou mayest judge his fairness, both in hair and in body. He is the wisest of the Æsir, and the fairest-spoken and most gracious; and that quality attends him, that none may gainsay his judgments. He dwells in the place called Breidablik, which is in heaven; in that place may nothing unclean be, even as is said here:

Breidablik ’tis called, | where Baldr has
A hall made for himself:
In that land | where I know lie
Fewest baneful runes.”

Baldr is the most beautiful of the Gods.  Glorious Baldr shines, for all to see, radiant with the beauty of appearance and of character.  Baldr reminds us all of what it means to be noble, what it means to be Aryan.  Baldr literally shines with nobility.  Baldr is also the God that reminds us most of hope and of the return to a Golden Age even when we see darkness around us… darkness can never withstand the light.

Baldr has shone his light upon the Asatru Folk Assembly.  Baldr has ushered in the return of our ancestral faith, the reforging of Asatru.  We honored Shining Baldr with our third hof in 2020, Baldrshof in Murdock Minnesota.

May we forever back in Baldr’s light.  May we strive to shine with nobility, from our hearts, for all to see.  May we strive to honor Baldr by setting a shining example for our Folk.

Hail Baldr!
